Call it a user fee. Call it deterrence. But, please by all means, call it stupid.
NJ Governor Jon Corzine called it a constructive suggestion when the New Jersey Hospital Association suggested the tax to fund struggling hospitals.
Leaving aside the literal idiocy of the idea, look at the logistical problems. How do you define fast food? An amount of time in which the food is cooked and served? Whether you stand in line to order the food versus ordering the food from a server at a table? Would those cute little packs of fresh fruit be taxed at the same level as those aren’t really cooked and aren’t a “sin”? What about buffets-that’s fast delivery but not really fast cooked?
This is lunacy. Next, some one will want to tax TEA!
